Latest news

Hope everyone has had a nice summer. We're just waiting for confirmation of the time slot for the new series of audition from Resonance HQ, and as soon as we know it we'll publish it here. We're chomping at the bit! Richard and I haven't been idle over the summer though - far from it.

Richard has started a record label, Cathnor Recordings, and already has two very strong releases available - Archi.Texture Vol 1 by Herve Boghossian, Mark Wastell and John Tilbury, and Body And Limbs Still Look To Light by Will Guthrie. Both releases are available now from Sound 323.

I spent some time in Sydney, Australia, picking up as much new music as I could and checking out gigs at The Now Now and Pelt. I also spent some time in the Cook Islands, but the experimental music scene isn't quite as big there...

Not to be outdone by Richard, I too have started a record label, Quincunx Sound Recordings. My first release is First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by Kommando Raumschiff Zitrone, the duo of Kai Fagaschinski and Christof Kurzmann. Sound 323 should be your first port of call for this, too.

We're really looking forward to broadcasting again. Hope you're looking forward to listening.

Show 23 - visual evidence

Well, MP3s of all the shows are up (if you know where to look, heh heh) with the exception of show 23. We've tried hard, but we just can't get a useful recording of that one. If you have one that you could share with us we'd be much obliged. If we can't get one then we'll look to put up the Beins/Durrant session that formed the centrepiece of that show anyway soon.

Just to prove we really did do a show that week, here's a picture of us in full flow. Picture courtesy of OFCOM's spy camera.

(L-R: Pinnell, Wilson)

While you wait for audition to start broadcasting again, Richard and I are both planning on bringing you some new music this summer. Keep checking back here for the latest news.

Progress with the missing Mp3s!

OK, the first of the missing Mp3s is now up at the archive page on the website.
Many thanks for the patience of anyone waiting for these, they are proving a pain to do, but I am aiming to have them all up before the weekend is over.

If any regular listeners missed our last show and really want to hear it, email me at rcpinnell (at) bt internet.com and I'll put you in touch with someone who can supply you with a copy, but only if you can convince me you don't work for a major label!!!

And now, the end is near...

Tomorrow's show is that last one in the current run, as we're taking a break for summer. We'll be back in October, so keep checking the site for updates.

For our last show we've planned something a little different. Because of the nature of it we're unlikely to put a full recording of it in the audio archive (copyright laws, big corporations, etc). So if you want the full, unadulterated, end-of-term audition programme, tune in tomorrow at 7pm. It's after the England match, so you've no excuse!

Website update

We've redesigned our website! Well, Richard has, I just annoyed him with my constant whining. I think it's looking even better than ever and now you can even see what we look like (warning: do not look at the "about audition" page on a full stomach).

Have a look here.

LMC Website relaunched and a teaser for tomorrow's show

The London Musicians' Collective's website has just been relaunched, so go here to satisfy all your London Musician and London-Musician-related needs. Excellent work, chaps.

As well as a useful calendar of gigs in London, there's a text archive which includes the fascinating "25 Years From Scratch" booklet, and an MP3 archive with sets from last November's LMC Festival featuring the likes of Dieb 13, Tisha Mukarji, Xavier Charles, Trio Sowari and Mattin. So, if you want to find out whether those blasts during the first part of Mattin's set was as loud as you've been told, check out the downloads here.

Tune in tomorrow for a host of new releases and some exclusive material from one of the participants in the above-mentioned LMC festival. We're too good to you, really we are.

Interactive programming on audition - get voting!

Between 2001 and 2004 there were some great concerts in the basement of Sound 323, many of them recorded by Tim Fletcher. Four of the best have been released on the Sound 323 label but we've been through the list of remaining gigs and come up with what we think are the first XI of so-far-unheard recordings from the basement.

We'd like to share some of them with you on the show. Vote via email for the three you'd most like to hear - use the link on the right of the page - and let us know by showtime, Sunday 14 May. We'll then play the winners on our June shows.
