Three more months - and a new time

You'll be pleased to know that we've been given another three months on Resonance, taking us up to the end of June. Thanks to everyone who has listened, talked to/about us here or elsewhere and even the couple of people who have got in touch directly with Resonance to say how much they like the show. We couldn't have done it without you!

The one difference in the next three months is that we're moving to an earlier time slot. As from this Sunday, April 2, we'll be broadcasting between 7 and 8pm BST (that's 6-7pm GMT for those of you who need to know such things). We like to think of it as a promotion, and it means we can go to the pub afterwards and still get to our respective homes at a reasonable hour (we both have proper jobs to go to on Monday mornings!).

Also, look out for a really important announcement early next week. I know I've said it before, but this time it really will happen. We're that close...

Kein Treppenhaus!

Looking at our site stats, I noticed that one of our visitors (from Wedding, Berlin - hello there!) had found us by looking at German Google. I couldn't resist sharing the "translate this page" version of Hörprobe with you all. "Justieren nicht ihren satz" indeed.

No Stairway!

"I don't understand why some people will only accept a guitar if it has an instantly recognizable guitar sound. Finding ways to use the same guitar people have been using for 50 years to make sounds that no one has heard before is truly what gets me off."

Jeff Beck

This week marks the first in an occasional series of programmes focussed on one instrument. We're dedicating the show to solo guitar tracks that are either very hard to find, or have an unusual approach to the instrument in question, or are performed by someone who you don't usually associate with the guitar. Usually more than one of the above applies!

After our five track show last week, you may be pleased to hear that we'll be playing the most tracks we've ever squeezed into an hour.

We'll keep most of the show under wraps for now, but to whet your appetite I can reveal that we will be playing an extremely rare Keith Rowe track and something from Taku Sugimoto's very first solo guitar album. Even Taku can't track one down these days, or so I'm told.

See you then, but I'm off now to listen to "Hi Ho Silver Lining" with a fresh pair of ears.

Listen again...partially

Technical snafus continue to plague us...the minidisc we recorded the show on got accidentally erased (while Richard tried to listen to it walking down Tottenham Court Road - don't ask) and the online equivalent only recorded the first half hour, bafflingly. But anyway, dig it here. You at least get the first fifteen minutes of the Annette/Toshi duo. And I have it on good authority that Sound 323 will have copies of the Annette Krebs CD-R in due course. Relax! You'll be able to hear it all soon!
